| | | The Buddy Smith Home is a 16 bed home in Fort Smith, Arkansas that provides transitional housing for homeless male veterans. It is drug and alcohol free. The Esther Home. Employment seems impossible when safe child care is a priority. Further education seems out of reach. Living on the street, in a vehicle, or with acquaintances is often dangerous. The Esther Home opened in November 2009 and has been a blessing to many wonderful women and children. Expenses are paid, including groceries, by the Next Step Day Homeless Services while these women pursue job skills and become employed. A savings of 80% of all income is required and is returned to them when they leave the program. |

| | | It is almost as though VA wants to minimize the residuals of TBI to avoid payment. By attributing symptoms to PTSD instead of TBI, it inhibits a veteran from receiving a rating of 100% Permanent and Total. |

| | | The President signed into law the Harry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act also known as the “Forever GI Bill,” which will bring significant changes to Veterans education benefits. The law is named after the American Legion national commander who wrote the original GI Bill language in 1944, and will allow more Veterans to use the GI Bill and more time to use it. Some of the changes will go into effect immediately, and some are written to go into effect shortly after. |
