The month of January started off with a lot of training for our chapter officers. The State Mid-Winter Conference was held in Lake Mary, Orlando and the National Service Officers trained 190 Chapter Service Officers from the State of Florida, more than any other state. Our chapter had Jerry Conway and John Camp there for re-certification as CSO’s. Larry “Stixxx” Tiller, Ron “Kase” Price, and Ron Popp were trained and Certified as CSO’s. In addition, Larry Tiller, Ron Price, and Jerry Haberle attended both Adjutant and Treasurer training classes. We learned a lot about the whole DAV organization and how things are done. We would like to thank you all for sending us for this training. The support of our membership is amazing, thank you!
We have helped to place two homeless veterans into a home, one a veteran, wife, children and his mother. The other one is a female veteran with a son who we also helped to get enrolled in job career training that will lead to a good paying job.
We have sponsored a DAV softball team with shirts with our Logo on them, this is good for our community. We have signed up 6 new members and we appreciate them being a part of our family.
Jerry Hess transported a disabled member to his medical appointments. The disabled veteran can no longer drive and now his wife is unable to drive him either.
Our members and officers are volunteering more in our office and our events just to help other veterans. I would like to thank you each and every one.
On January 27, 2016 we presented the bowling alley owners Skip & Paula Hintz with a Plaque for supporting Veterans with the Bowl-a-Thon, which took place in October 2015.
On January 28, 2016 we presented the Golden Corral manager Kevin Wilson with a Plaque for supporting Veterans in the month of November 2015.
This is a GREAT DAV Chapter to belong to, I’m proud to be a part of this DAV Chapter!
