DAV: FULFILLING OUR PROMISES TO THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVED
Announcements: Welcome to our new website 2018!

Title

Welcome to our new website 2018!

Body

Hello! My name is V and I am now the new webmaster for Al Gray Chapter#23 in Pensacola, Florida. We have had many changes to our chapter in the last year, one of the main things being a move to share space with the Fleet Reserve on 70th Ave. This had been a great blessing to our Chapter, as we have been able to focus more money toward buying 2 new vans to transport our Veteran Sisters and Brothers to appointments at the JACC in Pensacola, or the VA hospital in Biloxi, Ms. We cover transport services from Bay County, Florida to Escambia County, Florida; so we have put a lot of miles on the vans we purchased only a few years ago. Both of the vans have more than 160K miles on them, so they are definitely overdue for replacement!!! We are so fortunate to have had some wonderful fundraising opportunities the past 2 years, especially the partnership with Golden Corral!!! We are going to be in the lobby at our local Golden Corral on Langley and 9th Ave. this Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (11/9/18~11/12/18); accepting monetary donations to realize the purchase of both vans in December 2018. We are very close to the amount of money that we need to finalize the purchase of the 2nd van, so please come out and show your support of this most worthy cause!!! Many Veterans know that Golden Corral gives a special discount to Active Duty and Veteran Servicemembers on the observed Veteran's Day (in the evening), which is November 12th this year. If you are one of the servicemembers or veterans taking part in this opportunity, DO NOT FORGET to tip your service personnel at Golden Corral generously!!! They work very hard to take care of their families, and rely on the tip money to live (they get paid less than minimum wage per hour)...so show the love and remember they are honoring you!!! This Sunday November 11th (Veteran's Day) is the 100th Anniversary of the end to the conflict of WWI signed in Compiegne, France 11/11/1918, previously known as Armistice Day. If you have the opportunity to go to Compiegne, you can still see the railcar where the Armistice was signed with all the papers, etc... still inside (as I have done), and take in a bit of world changing history. The world has changed so much since that day, and we should always honor the sacrifices of our brothers and sisters in arms! Shake some hands and give some hugs, everybody needs at least one, and you never know...that may be the one thing that makes a difference and saves a life!!!
