It has been a long road to this moment! The green light has finally been given to resume the Unaccompanied Burial Services this Thursday, July 29th 2021- 0800, @ Barrancas National Cemetery on Naval Air Station Pensacola. This is a service to honor the memory of servicemembers (by rollcall) who have been interred at Barrancas without having family or friends there at the time of internment. Usually this is done every 90 days; but this has been a long year of time apart, and the rollcall of those that we have lost is way too long!!!
We have lost valued members of our own chapter to this eternal rollcall & they are ALL truly missed!!! When this service was started, it was done because many veterans were being interred without those that knew them there to attend. It was a time for the military service community (& those like-minded individuals) to step-up and adhere to our motto of never leaving one of our own behind! It doesn't matter if you knew the servicemember; but the fact that they are one of us & that it COULD BE ONE OF US, should be enough for us to honor their memory with a last earthly rollcall & military honors witnessed by fellow sisters and brothers-in-arms!!! Please take time out of your busy day & come to Barrancas by 0800 this Thursday for this last honor we can give to our own!!!
