DAV: FULFILLING OUR PROMISES TO THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVED
Announcements: Service for Nancy Bullock-Prevot founder, Veteran,& CEO H.E.R. Foundation

Title

Service for Nancy Bullock-Prevot founder, Veteran,& CEO H.E.R. Foundation

Body

One of our local Veterans, Nancy Bullock-Prevot, founder and CEO of the H.E.R. Foundation, which helps homeless women veterans, dies in an accident on Monday March 21, 2022 in Pace, Florida. Through this foundation & the Faith House (which can house up to 12 homeless women veterans), she has formulated a tool which has met an unmet need in our local community. Until she formed this foundation & bought & set-up Faith House, there were no places for homeless women or homeless women veterans- *unless you were battered (or) *homeless with children 17 & under. There still is no place for women who are not veterans which do not meet the (*) conditions above. There are many organizations that help men; but very few that help women- and much less that help women veterans! Why is that? Do people think that family or children will take "care" of the woman veteran who needs help? Do they think that a woman veteran is less likely to be in a position to where she could become homeless? Does a woman/woman veteran have less value than a man/male veteran? Did she do less for her country than he did? Wasn't she as willing to put her life on the line just like her male counterpart if the situation arose? All of these questions & many more point to the fact that there are fewer resources for women veterans & women in general, if a time of difficulty arises in their life after (but also during) her time in service. There are few safety nets, fewer social services, and longer wait times for health care. Nancy (a Navy Chief) tried to change that & was even on the Governor's task force to assess the needs of women veterans in the panhandle. Her family is grieving, her friends are grieving, her woman vets are grieving, her community is grieving, and the depth and breadth of her loss is uncalculable at this time. We as a veteran community should stand in the gap & do what we can for women veterans, the women in our community, & in our lives. For those who wish to attend her service- it will be on Monday March 28, 2022 @ 10am- Pace Assembly of God Church in Pace, Florida. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery @ Naval Air Station Pensacola.
