DAV: FULFILLING OUR PROMISES TO THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVED
Announcements: Unaccompanied Burial Service at Barrancas 25 April 2019

Title

Unaccompanied Burial Service at Barrancas 25 April 2019

Body

This Thursday April 25th @ 0800, Barrancas National Cemetery on Naval Air Station Pensacola will hold a service to honor our sister and brother veterans who were interred at Barrancas over the previous 90 days without friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, etc... to attend their internment. It is a very solemn ceremony in which their names are read aloud along with their time of service- ie: WW II, Korea, Vietnam, Cold War, Gulf Wars, etc. Many of the veterans who are being remembered have served in more than one area of conflict. It is important that we are there to remember them, even if we didn't know them personally, as at any time that could be us. We never leave a man/woman behind- that is what we have been trained to do while in service to our country. Our service doesn't end until the end- even if we are no longer actively serving in uniform! We still uphold those values that we have served under, and need to actively look for our sisters/brothers-in-arms who have lost their way. As we get older, it is easier to see the big picture; but harder to understand when you are too close to the action. This Memorial Day 2019, take the time to help another veteran- don't let them be one of the 22/day!
