Comrades:
We need your help! For the past two months we have tried to hold our regular meetings, but we have been unable to do so because we could not get a quorum. In other words, not enough members and officers were there. We are now overdue to hold our annual election of officers.
A small number of members have been carrying the Chapter for the past two years and the effort is taking its toll on them. We need people to volunteer to hold office and work for the benefit of disabled veterans in our area. We also need people to work on raising money for the Chapter and seeking out new members in our area.
Our regular meeting is coming up this Thursday, June 9 and we need a good turnout of people willing to volunteer to help with the things that need to be done. We need to hold our election of officers. If we can’t do this, then the State will be taking over the Chapter and all of our assets. I don’t think anyone wants that to happen, so please make an effort to attend and think seriously about running for office. Remember there are a lot of disabled veterans and veterans out there that depend on our knowledge, experience and efforts in the Chapter to help them and other veterans like them. Remember we all started out and other DAV members helped us along the way over the years. Many of us owe our disability compensation to their efforts. Now it’s time for us to pay it forward to the next group of disabled veterans.
I look forward to seeing you all at our meeting this Thursday evening at 7:00 pm at the Legacy Link Building in Gainesville. You can come early at 6:00 pm if you want to visit with your fellow members, but for this meeting, we will not have a meal. We will supply bottled water for everyone and anyone who wishes can bring their own snack.
We’re going to try and get the meeting to end by 8:00 pm.

REMEMBER Thursday, June 9 is our regular monthly meeting and we NEED YOUR HELP! We need to elect our officers and plan a few events. Please make every effort to attend. We need a quorum in order to hold the meeting and we need people to vote and run for offices. Please put this on your calendar and plan to attend.
