DAV: FULFILLING OUR PROMISES TO THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVED
Announcements: Chapter Update March 8 2012

Title

Chapter Update March 8 2012

Body

1. We just mailed off $1,440 and raffle stubs to the state DAV Adjutant. Our goal is to send a total of $2,000. Commander Howe said that the State had $9,500 in sales already. So our addition puts the state well over the $10,000 number needed to keep the state raffle in the good graces of the Idaho Lottery Commission.

2. A big thanks to Mike Teall for spending 3 mornings selling tickets at Steins IGA in
Rathdrum. Another big thanks to Dick Oates for also spending three afternoons doing
the same thing.

3. Trading Company in Post Falls will allow us to sell one day inside the store on the15th of February.
I will be there in the pm. We need a couple of volunteers for in the
am and some for pm.

4. Anyone planning to attend the state convention should be sending in their registration
and making their hotel reservations.

5. We sent in an order for 3,000 Forget Me Not flowers.

6. John Booth donated $20 for the raffle tickets and told me to give them away. So,
Marilyn has been following a Hayden young man who was in a one car accident and
paralyzed. He is the grandson of a veteran so we made the tickets out in his mother's name.

7. We mailed off our $318 Delegate Fees to the state adjutant. Our incorporation papers
are up to date.

8. We delivered a $200 check to Erickson's RV as approved by the Chapter. The
Adjutant was tasked to find something good to do for Dave who has been so
supportive of this Chapter. He has inoperative liver cancer. His office staff said he
was down south in his RV with his wife Audrey. They like to attend the dinner shows
in Las Vegas. So we paid for him to go to a good one.

9. We will hand deliver the $75 memorial donation to American Legion 143 tomorrow.

10. If anyone has an in where we can set up a table and sell raffle tickets, please let us know/

11. Our next regular chapter meeting is the 27th of March. The Commander will be absent as he will be
in Oregon getting a service dog. The Sr. Vice will chair the meeting. The meeting is where we have
the first of two nominating sessions for the officers for the next year.
It is permissible to nominate yourself for an officer position. Or if you are considering throwing your cap in the
ring, arrange for someone to nominate you. No one has a lock on any office and there is no fix in
already.

12. Commander Stamper is considering appointing new officer positions such as the Forget Me Not Officer, the Scholarship Officer and my
favorite: the pizza officer. This officer will be responsible for ensuring that adequate pizzas of the appropriate
quantity and variety are present, along with soft drinks.

13. No item 13 as this number is bad luck or more precisely it is an "expanded phobia disorder".

14. Raffle tickets: it is really important to sell those raffle tickets. I know it is a pain in the rear, but
as a past van driver, I can promise you that many veterans would not get the medical care they
need because their injuries, wounds, medicine or life situation keeps them from getting to the medical
center. These raffle tickets support the van program. Because Mike Teall, Dick Oates, Charles Till and
Pat McLean have sold over $100 of tickets they cannot be appointed chapter adjutant. The rest of you
are all prime candidates. so.....your fate is in your own hands......unless you want to end up like me...start
selling.
