Have You Heard?

Today marks the 44th anniversary of Earth Day.  This occasion provides VA an opportunity to reaffirm and strengthen its commitment to safeguarding the environment.  Green purchasing is a significant part of this commitment; it reduces VA’s environmental and energy impacts and contributes to the well-being of Veterans, their families, our employees and other stakeholders. In celebration of Earth Day, the Office of Procurement Policy, Systems and Oversight is launching Green Purchasing News, dedicated to increasing awareness of the need to “buy green” across VA.  The inaugural edition is available on the Procurement Policy Service’s Green Purchasing Program webpage at http://www.va.gov/oal/business/pps/greenPurchasing.asp.  Future issueswhich will be published on a quarterly basis, will also be posted to this page. For ideas for celebrating Earth Day at work, at home and in your community, visit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Earth Day portal at http://www.epa.gov/earthday/, and make every day Earth Day.
