VetTech Weekly Wednesday Webinar Reminder: Leveraging Technology Via “Clew” in Facilitating Effective Navigation Don’t forget to join BVA’s VetTech Team tomorrow, February 7, at 2:00pm Eastern Time as we welcome Dr. Paul Ruvolo, Associate Professor of Computer Science at Olin College of Engineering (Needham, Massachusetts) and the developer, along with his students, of Clew – an indoor path tracing navigation app. Dr. Ruvolo’s work focuses on the utilization of smartphone technology to create assistive technology for the blind. Dr. Ruvolo and his student research group developed the free Clew app, which allows people with sight loss to navigate a route with haptic and auditory feedback. The webinar will focus on how Clew retraces individuals’ paths so that they can independently return to any desired location. In a more informal setting and discussion format than the weekly webinar, VetTech Talk is typically held every Thursday in the same 2:00pm time slot, Eastern Time. However, this week’s VetTech Talk takes a break and will not be held. Even if you are not a BVA member, VetTech webinars and talk sessions are currently open to you. Regular attendees are blind and low vision veterans and nonveterans, family members, caregivers, blind rehabilitation specialists, and all other parties interested in assistive, adaptive, and accessible technology that results in greater independence are invited to attend and participate. Membership in BVA or attendance at previous sessions are not prerequisites to join the VetTech webinars or VetTech Talk sessions. Did you miss any of the most recent virtual sessions? No problem! VetTech is now available as a podcast on major platforms. Interested parties can listen on demand to missed Weekly Wednesday Webinars as well as original content published solely on the podcast by asking their Smart speaker, Siri, or Alexa, to “play the latest episode of the Blinded Veterans Association VetTech Podcast.” They can also follow the channel via Apple Podcast, Google Play, and Amazon Music. To enter either or both of this week’s VetTech sessions using the same Zoom meeting credentials and link, use the information below or click here.
