 Haley Brothers Chapter# 117

Our Chapter "Haley Brothers 117" was organized and incoporated in march 27, 1957 in Saginaw Michigan

Our Chapter name is derived from the sons and sacrifice of Mr. and Mrs. Leo F. Haley.  They were:

      • Arthur Andrew Haley, born:  September 19,1916.   Drafted March of 1941 in the U.S. Army.

In October 1941 he received orders to the Philippines and later became a prisoner of war on the island of Bataan.  Arthur Died in a prison camp at Osaka, Japan on December 17, 1943 at the age of 27 as CPL.

      • Robert Leo Haley, born September 3, 1919.   Drafted January of 1942 in the U.S. Army.

Robert participated in the landing at Sofia, North Africa October, 1942 in the battle of Kasserine Pass.  He died during a battle at El Guetar, North Africa April 6, 1943 at the age of 23.

"The Haley Brothers" were laid to rest in the Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum of Saginaw Michigan in a  Reburial service held at the Case Chapel Funeral Home, December 4, 1948.

Since 1957 Haley Brothers Chapter #117 of The Disabled Veterans of Saginaw has had a single vision.  That vision has been "to speak for those veterans and family members who are unable to speak for themselves....."

We Salute all the Men and Women who have given their all to preserve our great Nation and our way of life.  Remember always if you can read this thank a teacher, If you can read this in English thank a Veteran.

   We Thank you all!!!

We are dedicated to a single purpose: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. We accomplish this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them; fighting for the interests of America's injured heroes on Capitol Hill; and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life.

  • Providing free, professional assistance to veterans and their families in obtaining benefits and services earned through military service and provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other agencies of government;
  • Providing outreach concerning its program services to the American people generally, and to disabled veterans and their families specifically;
  • Representing the interests of disabled veterans, their families, their widowed spouses and their orphans before Congress, the White House and the Judicial Branch, as well as state and local government;
  • Extending DAV’s mission of hope into the communities where these veterans and their families live through a network of state-level Departments and local Chapters; and
  • Providing a structure through which disabled veterans can express their compassion for their fellow veterans through a variety of volunteer programs.
