Meeting was called to order at 7 P.M. Opening ceremony and prayer were observed.

 Roll call of chapter officers was taken and Adjutant Tony read minutes of last meeting.

17 members were present.

Minutes of the May meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer Report was given and approved.

 

Thank you card from the State of MN Veterans Home board was read thanking chapter 22 for helping fund a fishing outing for resident veterans at the Silver Bay Veterans Home.

 

May activities noted:

 

Veterans Information Day seminar at CLC

Participation in Memorial Day parade and posting of colors.

Inaugural appearance of the Chapter 22 Color Guard/Rifle Squad at a funeral for a fallen veteran at the State Veterans Cemetery at Little Falls.

Presentation of military branch flags/hats to respective veterans at halfway house in Brainerd.

Chapter members are reminded to keep track of any and all volunteer activities they participate in. The Adjutant will submit a list of activities to the MN Department each month.

 

 Adjutant Tony stated that seventeen (17) new members have joined Chapter 22   since the May meeting. New member certificates will be presented at the first meeting the members attend. Welcomed at the June meeting was David Wagnild who also joined the chapter at this meeting.  Welcome to all new members of Chapter 22 and we hope you are able to attend our monthly meetings.

 

Up coming events and news:

 

 Report and request for volunteers to work at the Military Family Appreciation Night to be held in conjunction with the Brainerd Blue Thunder baseball game was heard. This event is being held to honor and recognize Veterans, their families and our POW’s and MIA’s.  This event will be taking place on Wednesday night July 2, 2008. Make a note of it on your calendar and please attend or volunteer your help if you can.  The POW hot air-balloon will be at the event also.

To volunteer for either ground crew or picnic help call 855-8000 ex. 8331.

Chapter 22 will have their annual Brat sale on July 25 and 26 at Cub Foods in East Brainerd.

A sign up sheet was passed out for volunteers to work the sale. Two shifts will be needed for each day and aprox. 5 people are needed for each shift.  Volunteers are still needed.

 

Chapter meetings are going on the road again this year.  DAV CWC Chapter 22 will have the

JULY Chapter meeting at the American Legion Club in Deerwood at 7PM on July 17.

 

August Chapter meeting will be the annual summer potluck picnic to be held in the evening at either Kiwanis Park or Buffalo Hills Park. The chapter will provide brats, hamburgers, and chicken.  All members are invited to attend along with family members. More details will be in the July newsletter.

Discussion was held on the August For-Get-Me-Not campaign. Volunteers will be needed for both card sales to businesses and for individual sales at area stores.

This is the major moneymaker for the chapter. Please help out if you can.

Sign up will be held at the July meeting.

 

Discussion was held on the possibility of having a fund raising banquet in the fall. This would be similar to the fund raising held by the Pheasants Forever and Turkey Federation.  Included would be Dinner, raffles, silent auction and door prizes. Motion was made to find out more information.

 

Discussion was held on purchase of an “alter cloth” to be used on display tables where the chapter is involved with community events.  Motion was made to have member look into the cost and also if chapter name could be embroidered on it.

 

Discussion was held on purchase of a Recording Bugle to be used by the color guard for funerals and other events. Motion was made to check into the cost of this.

 

Heard a report the Rifle Cabinet has been installed at the VFW post we are still awaiting the arrival of the M-1 rifles.

 

Tabled discussion on the purchase of the color guard jackets until we have received written bids from the vendors.

 

Discussion was held and a committee was formed to look into the possibility of having bulk post cards designed to be used for notification of chapter meetings or events to be sent to all members. Chapter 22 has over 300 members with current and life memberships.

 

Our Memorial Service was observed and the Chaplin gave the prayer

                                                                                AUXILIARY MEETING

 

 

Meeting was called to order by Commander Rose Mogensen

 

Opening prayer was read by Chaplin Karen Rosenow.

 

Secretary’s report was read by Karen Rosenow

 

Treasures report was read by Kathy Brastrup.

 

Communications were passed for members to read.

 

Karen brought up the opportunity to volunteer   July 2nd at the Military Family Appreciation Night at the

Brainerd Blue Thunder game.

 

DAV Brat Sales July 25-26 at the NE Brainerd Cub Foods.

 

August 21st Meeting will be a picnic, at location to be determined at either Kiwanis Park or Buffalo Hills Park. Meat furnished by chapter, potluck for sides.

 

Next AUXILIARY   meeting will be July 17th at the VFW Club in Brainerd.
