A Million and One Reasons to Volunteer

There are many reasons why DAV and Auxiliary members volunteer their time and energy to help others.  Without a doubt, no matter how our members spend their time in helping others, it can be one of the most gratifying experiences of a lifetime.  From youth volunteers to someone who has been volunteering for 50 years, we can all be proud of the difference we make in the lives of sick and disabled veterans.

 

But we know that we must continually prepare for the future. We need to be mentors to those who will follow in our footsteps and we must actively recruit those individuals to take our place.  It is time for new volunteers to take their place as well in the effort to “build better lives for America’s disabled veterans.”   With this in mind, the Department of Veterans Affairs has produced a 12 minute video, “A million and one Reasons to Volunteer”, that will provide some background information for those thinking about getting involved in VA Volunteer Services.  You can view this video by clicking here.

Borders stores noted below will host a “Benefit Day” to support the work of the DAV. Borders will donate up to 25% of the days’ net sales (not less than 10% and as much as 25%), made by DAV supporters, to the DAV.

 

A voucher is required at point of purchase, to ensure the portion of sales is credited back to the DAV.  See participating locations and vouchers below.

Officer Reports No Longer Submitted Electronically:

Effective immediately, electronically submitted Officer Reports are no longer acceptable.  Department and Chapters must comply with ARTICLE 9 Section 9.2: Para 3:  “The chapter officer report shall be completed on the form provided by National Headquarters and shall be certified by the chapter commander and adjutant.  Any change in elected or appointed officers of a chapter during the membership year requires the submission of a new chapter officer report to the state department and National Organization within ten days after installation.”
