If you served honorably on active duty from September 2, 1945 to December 26, 1991, you are authorized the Cold War Recognition Certificate per section 1084 0f the 1998 National Defense Authorization Act. There is no authorized medal to recognize service during the Cold War. Please realize that a medal and ribbon could be different depending on where they are purchased.
