Had new members: Mr. Ballinger, Chris Powell, Bobby Rager, Chuck Guthrie, Larry Mcallia, Rex, Mark May Motions Donate $250 to the American Legend to supplement them for assisting us with the van program. Because of regulation, they are not allowed to use our van so they have been using theirs to assist us while our van program is on hold. This will help with the cost of their assistance. Our van program is transitioning to the American Legend. The commander Charlene is the new coordinator. Thanks to Ron Green and Doug Strange for this to happen. Motion accepted by Jesse and Charlene. If any veterans need a ride, they will need to contact the American Legend at 615-452-0590 to coordinate the ride. Advance notice is preferred. We are planning a trip to the VA hospital to visit veterans in the hospital. There are many there that do not get any visitors. The date will be in June but the actual date is being planned. Lee Unfortunately not all districts have unity with other veteran organizations. Sumner County is fortunate that all the organizations work together. This is a benefit to our veterans because it gives them more resources and one organization doesn’t foot the entire expense. As we are talking to veterans, the veteran can be a member of the DAV even with 0% rating. The fees are the same. Once you pay, you are never required to pay again. Middle Division meeting. Apr 27, 12 noon dinner. Meeting starts at 12:45. It will be a great round table. Meet the officers in the state of Tennessee. The meeting will be at the Ponderoza in Dixon. When you go to the VA, they are going to give you your travel pay either through direct deposit or will be mailing you the payment. They will be stopping paying you at the appointment. You will need to fill out the form. The elections will be handled in May If you go to a hospital that is not a part of the VA, you have to tell the VA within 24 hours for the bill to be paid. If you have other insurance, VA will not pay as well. Vietnam Veterans Association – VVA is having a parade for the Vietnam Veterans Apr 15 through the 17 at Pigeon Forge. April 27 Combat fallen vets run. The American Legend is located at 140 South water Gallatin. Ralph updates us on legislative. Gun bill. Number of bills in the state. Gun bill $200 fee got defeated. Gaming bill working its way through the Senate. Veteran court bill has faced some problems. Supreme Court wants it to be a resolution instead of a bill. Mark May is the Veterans outreach specialist Tennessee career Center in Gallatin. If a veteran needs assistance to get a job, contact Mark May. His email is mark.may@tn.gov He is located at 175 College Street in Gallatin. Walmart and Sams club wants interns from colleges. They want veterans in IT.
