August 19, 2023 General Monthly Meeting Minutes
Commander Leon Collins opened the meeting at 10:00 AM in VFW Post 7108 Meeting Room located on 8759 FM 1560 North, San Antonio, Texas 78254
1. Commander Leon Collins – Rap’s gravel, calling meeting to order.
2. Chaplain Vasquez – Opens Bible and read the DAV Prayer to open meeting.
3. Sr Vice Commander Lou Corbitt – Called membership to order for the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag
4. Commander Leon Collins – Declared meeting open for the transaction of Chapter business.
5. Commander Collins – Called for Adjutant Morales to conduct roll call of officers.
6. Adjutant Rafael Morales Called the roll of officers.

7. Adjutant Rafael Morales reported all Chapter officers are present and/or accounted for.
8. Commander Collins – Called for Adjutant Morales to read Minutes from the July 15, 2023 General Monthly Meeting and Executive Committee Meeting held on August 8, 2023.
9. Adjutant Morales reported that the July 15, 2023 Monthly General Meeting Minutes were issued via email to membership. Adjutant Morales also reported the Executive Committee Meeting scheduled for August 8, 2023 was not held; hence, no minutes were prepared.
10. Commander Collins called for a motion to approve the July 15, 2023 Monthly General Meeting Minutes as issued by Adjutant
11. Motion by Comrade Luis Reyna to approve the June 17, 2023 Monthly Business Meeting Minutes be approved as issued via email to membership. Second by Comrade Hilton Ferguson
12. Commander Collins called for affirmative votes, and then negative votes. Motion was approved
13. Commander Collins – Acknowledge the attendance of Department/National Commanders and/or NSO’s Past or Present
• NO Department/National Commanders in attendance
• NSO Adrain Martinez – Acknowledged
• NSO Laiaa Cordenas -- Acknowledged
14. NSO Adrain Martinez provide membership information regarding new items listed within the PACT ACT. Haedcopies were available for membership
15. Commander Collins – Called for New Chapter Members and/or Veteran vistors to please stand up to be acknowledged:
• Murphy Woodcox (Transfer) – Air Force
16. Commander Collins – Called for Treasurer report. Due to absence of Treasurer, a hard copy of current treasurer report was made available to membership. (See attached report)
17. Commander Collins – Called for a motion to approve the current treasurer report
a. Motion by Comrade Juan Gallardo approve the current treasurer report.
b. Second by: Comrade Hilton Furguson
c. Commander Collins called for affirmative votes, and then negative votes.
d. Motion to approve the current treasurer report carried.
18. Commander Collins – Called for Committee chairmen’s to report:
a) Christmas Dinner Chairman Bob Dillon reported that Chapters Christmas Dinner will be held at the VFW Post 7108 on December 16, 2023. The plan includes asking Golden Correl to provide the catering.
19. Commander Collins – Called for Old Business:
• Comrade Dillon proposed that we consider a fundraiser to be held 2024. Comrade Dillon informed to be held at the Fish City Resturant. The proposal is a work in progress to collect more information
• Chapter Adjutant to contact Department to confirm if this type of fundraiser is acceptable per by-laws
• Comrade Reyna proposed the membership consider a raffle with tickets selling for ten dollars per ticket. The proposal is a work in progress to collect more information.
20. Commander Collins – Called for New Business:
• Provide Hats & Vest for purchase by members
• Purchase of 10X10 tent for use during recruiting and fundraising events
• Prepare for Golden Corral Veterans Day Fundraising – Saturday, November 11, 2023
• Need Committee Chairmen – Need volunteers for Committee Chairmen and helpers
21. Commander Collins – Called for Good of the Order: For Membership Information:
a. VFW Activities:
• Steak Night – 6PM, 9/1/2023
• Fish Fry – 7PM, 9/15/23
• Bike Night – 9/20/23
• Craft Fair – All Day, 9/23/23
b. Cleanup of Membership Rooster: Chapter Membership Rooster requires updating for 2023/2024
22. Per attendance list, there is a total of 22 members and guest present; hence, Commander Collins there is a quorum for conducting chapter business.
23. Commander Collins – At this time called for a One Minute of Silence will be devoted in honor of our fallen comrades.
24. Commander Collins – Before I declare we adjourned, it is fitting and proper that we again render Honor to the Flag of our Country.”
25. Commander Collins – Comrades, Chaplain Vasquez, will now lead us in prayer. Chaplain Vasquez read closing prayer
26. Commander Collins – Makes motion to adjourn

27. Commander Collins announced meeting of Joseph Earley Chapter #14, of the Disabled American Veterans Adjourned.
28. Commander Collins – Meeting Adjourned: 11:00 A.M. Our next meeting will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023
