Email Address: We have a new email address that will be easy to remember fdldav11@yahoo.com. I created this, so I can send members their newsletter via email. The email is also posted on our current website. We will probably be getting a more user friendly website in the near future.
Honor Flight- There is currently a waiting list of 400 veterans, so sign up soon.
LZ Lambeau: May 21-23 there is going to be a long overdue homecoming for Vietnam War Veterans. There is information at www.lzlambeau.org or contact the CVSO. Our chapter will be receiving 25 free tickets. If you would like a ticket from me, you will need to show me proof of service in Vietnam. You can also reserve a ticket for yourself for the Saturday night homecoming. A ticket for a non-Vietnam veteran is $10. All tickets orders require a $2.00 handling fee, regardless if they are free.
` Christmas Party: The Holiday party was a great success. We had approximately 50 people in attendance. Our department Senior Vice Commander, John Hoeft, Junior Vice Commander K.C. Johnson, and our District Commander Tom Weber and Adjutant Rosemarie Pitz also joined in the festivities. Members were able to relax and enjoy the company.
Elections: At the March meeting we will be having nominations for the upcoming election in April.
Installation, dinner will be on May 4, 2009, at 6:00pm. The chapter will pay for those members who have been active in the chapter or unit over the past year. This involves helping with Forget-Me-Nots, Delivering Flowers to Veterans, attending meetings, attending other DAV events as a representative of our chapter or unit.
APRIL Meeting: The location of the April meeting will be changing due to the necessary plumbing work at the Legion Hall. I have a tentative location near the Hall, but I need to confirm. Watch the March newsletter for that information.
Navy and Agent Orange: I have received information about ships, which now are being labeled as having Agent Orange exposure. Please call me or email, so I can forward it to you. I have other new information with regards to Pensions and Compensations. Again you can call me, but a reminder that this is the type of information presented at the meeting.
DAV/DAVA at the Ballpark: This year members of the DAV/DAVA are invited to have some fun at the Wisconsin Timberrattlers. The event is on July 18, 2010. I hope to have a van or bus drive up to the game. Mark it on your calendar; it is a great event and definitely a more family friendly place to watch a baseball game.
Memorial Day Parade: Yes it is hard to believe that with the white outside, that summer plans are being made. I would like to have members of our chapter marching in the Memorial Day Parade in May. We need a minimum of 4 committed people to support a color guard. This needs to be set by the April meeting as there will not be one in May.
Free Spirit Riders: They are an organization that does therapeutic horseback riding. They are now offering a riding program for disabled veterans. If you or another disabled veteran is interested you can call (920) 924-9920. I will be contacting them to get more information for our website and future newsletters.
