JACKSONVILLE, FL – November 10, 2009 – Starting Veterans Day through Memorial Day, military veteran Richard Hunsucker, U.S.M.C. from Green Bay, Wisconsin, embarks on a journey to raise funds for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) by walking 202 days across America from Florida to California. Read more... A Million and One Reasons to Volunteer
There are many reasons why DAV and Auxiliary members volunteer their time and energy to help others. Without a doubt, no matter how our members spend their time in helping others, it can be one of the most gratifying experiences of a lifetime. From youth volunteers to someone who has been volunteering for 50 years, we can all be proud of the difference we make in the lives of sick and disabled veterans.
But we know that we must continually prepare for the future. We need to be mentors to those who will follow in our footsteps and we must actively recruit those individuals to take our place. It is time for new volunteers to take their place as well in the effort to “build better lives for America’s disabled veterans.” With this in mind, the Department of Veterans Affairs has produced a 12 minute video, “A million and one Reasons to Volunteer”, that will provide some background information for those thinking about getting involved in VA Volunteer Services. You can view this video by clicking here.
If you would like a DVD version of this video please feel free to contact me at mwalsh@davmail.org.
