The Disabled American Veterans Local Veterans Assistance Program (LVAP)
The Disabled American Veterans Local Veterans Assistance Program (LVAP) is designed to facilitate and recognize creative volunteerism to support veterans and the DAV’s mission.
From DAV member support of chapters and departments to direct assistance to veterans, widows or families, the program is a flexible way for everyone to honor the service and sacrifices of our nation’s veterans.

Direct Assistance:
Through the program, any volunteer ac¬tivity that contributes to our mission of building better lives for disabled veterans and their families is recognized. Volunteers might perform yard work, help someone run errands, set up a computer system, clean out the gutters, shovel snow from a side¬walk, assist with cooking or cleaning, paint or perform home repairs — any task that might brighten a veteran’s life.
Individuals with special skills or qualifications can earn recognition for using their unique training and professional abilities in ways that benefit veterans.

Disability Benefits For Wounded Warriors
Military service members can receive expedited processing of disability claims from Social Security. Benefits available through Social Security are different than those from the Department of Veterans Affairs and require a separate application. The expedited process is used for military service members who become disabled while on active military service on or after October 1, 2001, regardless of where the disability occurs.

To date, Golden Corral restaurants have provided over 1.8 million free meals and contributed over $2.53 million to the Disabled American Veterans organization.

Expanded Veterans Discount Program Pilot (lottery)
The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR), in conjunction with the Idaho State Legislature, has a 3 – year Expanded Veterans Discount Pilot Program in an effort to sample the use of fee discounts within Idaho State Parks by a larger audience of Idaho Veterans.

The pilot program provides a waiver of park entrance and basic campsite fees to participating Idaho residents who are disabled veteran’s and whose service-related disabilities are rated at fifty (50) to ninety (90) percent permanent and total disability.

An annual lottery is used to select 300 individuals to participate in the pilot each year. The 2010 program will be effective January 1 through December 31, 2010, based on a Lottery to be held in late fall, 2009.

All qualifying veterans who are interested in participating in the 2010 Pilot Program are invited to submit their applications before October 2, 2009. Apply Now!
