DAV: FULFILLING OUR PROMISES TO THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVED
Announcements: AVISTA SUPPORTS THE DAV TRANSPORTATION NETWORK

Title

AVISTA SUPPORTS THE DAV TRANSPORTATION NETWORK

Body

On Friday, January 23rd, 2009, Avista Utilities Recreation and Land Manager, Brian Burky, introduced Kristine Meyer, Avista Foundation Executive Director, to the Sanders County Board of Commissioners; and later, to several Avista Foundation grants recipients. This was an opportunity for up-dates for several beneficiaries and a get-acquainted session for others.

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Department of Montana represented by Dick Wells, Area Coordinator and Publicity Chairman met with the Avista visitors and introduced the Volunteer Transportation Network (VTN). The Department received a grant in the form of a laptop computer and a check for $900.00 from the Avista Foundation. This grant will permit DAV Montana to strengthen its on-going public awareness of DAV projects, all of which are dedicated to making better lives for veterans and their dependents.

DAV presented the Avista delegation with newly produced lapel pins bearing the rendered VTN logo and the motto, “We Make it Happen.”  When that was done, DAV presented a plaque showing the VTN logo on black marble, and laser engraved words:

A GOOD CORPORATE NEIGHBOR IN SANDERS

COUNTY

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS

DEPARTMENT OF MONTANA

MICHAEL A, CLOUSE, COMMANDER 2008

Both the plaque and lapel pins were produced in the USA (the plaque by Laser Etched Memories in Helena Montana). The Sanders County Ledger supplied the pins, which were very affordable, with no setup charge and only a few weeks for delivery. Computer Logic installed MS Office 2000 and other utilities free of charge to DAV.
