Body

DAV Black Mountain Chapter 12 Honor Guard

The newly formed DAV Black Mountain Chapter 12 Honor Guards made their official debut on Memorial Day, May 28, 2015 during the Memorial Day Ceremony held at the Boulder City Veterans Cemetery. Their performance was well received and added a special touch to the ceremony hosted by VFW Post 36. Their Commander complimented the Honor Group for their attendance and performance and commented to that the performance made the ceremony very special and made a positive impact that day. The founding members of this impressive Honor Guards are Ramiro Parocua, Commander, Ed Hedrick (Commander DAV Chapter 12), Richard Walker, Richard Portillo, Bill Baumann, Cal Haggen, Delvin Bourn, Raymond Domanski, Mike Salomonson, and Chuck Marino. The genesis for the formation of this group came from the fact that many veteran’s funerals did not provide the honor of having the 21-Gun salute and the appropriate respect and recognition that every veteran deserved at his/her burial services. DAV Chapter 12 saw that need and filled it with their volunteerism, vision and pride. Commander Parocua, who was a Cadet Colonel of the Jr. ROTC program at his high school, Garfield High School, East Los Angeles, CA where his ROTC team won many local awards and recognition as one of the best in Los Angeles took his former training and knowledge in coordinating and commanding an honor guard and called upon his Chapter to recruit the members to form this group. As always, the members stepped up to the call and proudly formed this group. They are excited and honored to provide this service and ceremony at any future events honoring veterans and their service. For further information and availability of the group contact, Ramiro Parocua at email: pr1944mx@yahoo.com or phone (310) 469-2009.
