(Oct 30, 1948 – Sep 23, 1969) (USA- Corporal Company B, 2nd Bn, 35th Infantry, 4ID) (White – Roman Catholic - Single) Santurce (NPRC reports no photo attended Tech & Comm Institute of Puerto Rico, Santurce, Puerto Rico High, completed 1967 - FOIA shows that he took basic training at Fort Jackson, SC but the assignment and date were never filled in – AIT at Fort Jackson in B – 11 - 3 starting in Dec 29, 1968) • Maldonado-Aguilar, Benjamin (Oct 27, 1947 – Feb 5, 1969) (USA- Specialist Four Company C, 1st Bn, 12th Cavalry, 1CD) (White – Roman Catholic - Single) Mayauez (NPRC reports no photo at NPRC and that he earned a diploma at Hostos High School and Superior Vocational 1966 - FOIA shows that he took basic training at Fort Gordon, Georgia starting Jan 22, 1968 in A – 3 – 2 (might be a “1”) - AIT at Fort Polk, LA in C – 4 – 3 starting Mar 18, 1968 – ships to Vietnam) • Ortiz-Rivera, Juan (Jun 24, 1942 – Dec 28, 1967) (USA- Private First Class Company D, 52nd Signal Bn, 2nd Signal Group, 1st Signal Brigade) (White – Roman Catholic - Married) Bayamon (NPRC reports no photo at NPRC and he attended Agustin Stahl High School in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and Graduated in 1962 - FOIA shows that he took basic training at Fort Gordon, Georgia in D - 3 – 1 starting May, looks like “27”, 1967 – AIT at Fort Belvoir, Virginia in Company W, 5th Bn Jul 21, 1967– looks like AIT again in Company T, 4th Bn at Fort Belvoir starting Jul 21, 1967 (same date so one of the two AITs is probably wrong)) • Rodriguez-Rivera, Jaime (Aug 27, 1948 – Apr 27, 1970) (USA- Private First Class 213th Engineer Detachment, 159th Engineer Group, 20th Engineer Brigade) (White – Roman Catholic - Single) Caparra Terrace (NPRC reports no photo at NPRC and that he attended Gabriela Mistral High School in San Juan and graduated in 1968 - FOIA shows that he took basic training at Fort Jackson, SC in C - 2 - 2 starting Apr 7, 1969) KIAs WITH PUERTO RICO CONNECTIONS 2 missing NEW YORK: • Oyola, Hector David (Apr 13, 1949 – Aug 14, 1970) (USA- Private First Class Company B, 3rd Bn, 1st Infantry, 11th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division) (White – Roman Catholic - Single) New York, NY – PR connection is that he was born in and his parents lived in Juncos, PR (NPRC reports no photo at NPRC and that he attended Juncos High School (there doesn't seem to be a "Juncos High School" per se, could be Escuela Superior Vocacional Isabel Flores, could be Esculela Superior Jose Collazo Colon, could be Coloegia Bautista de Juncos) , in Juncos PR earning a diploma in 1969) (FOIA shows that he took basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey in C – 3 - 2 starting Dec 8, 1969 – AIT at Fort Lewis, Washington in B – 3 - 3 starting Feb 20, 1970) MICHIGAN: • Zayas, Saul (Mar 24, 1949 – Feb 3, 1968) (USMC- Private First Class Company M, 3rd Bn, 5th Marines, 3rd Marine Division) (White – Catholic - Single) Detroit (FOIA submitted Mar 31, 2022)
