Veterans court program helps warriors battle addiction, mental health crises
Did you know that 6.1 million Veterans live and work in America’s rural communities, and half of those Veterans are enrolled for VA health care? These Veterans can face some unique barriers to accessing health care, including a lack of public transportation, long travel distances to care sites, and a limited number of primary and specialty care providers. Join the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Office of Rural Health (ORH) and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) in “Celebrating the Power of Rural,” today for National Rural Health Day. The goal of this annual event is to showcase rural America and increase awareness of rural health-related issues. Learn more about how ORH projects are improving access and quality of care for rural Veterans through the use of technology and telehealth, community collaborations, and rural workforce development. Veterans to Receive 1.5 Percent Cost-of-Living Increase
Ten years ago, My HealtheVet began as an electronic health record (EHR) pilot program with 7,000 users nationwide. Today, more than 2.5 million registered users actively participate in their health care using My HealtheVet. OIT is proud to be part of this success and looks forward to another 10 years (and more) of collaboration with VHA in support of Veterans. As the My HealtheVet user base grows, OIT keeps the system up and running and continually develops improvements and new functions. Ideas for new tools come from patient feedback, doctor surveys, OIT employee suggestions, and VHA requests. OIT listens and incorporates that input into quarterly releases with new and improved capabilities. Learn more about how OIT and VHA work together to deliver quality care to our Veterans through My HealtheVet at http://go.usa.gov/WGDJ.
