“Never again volunteer yourself!”
My fellow Sailors will recognize that statement and the sentiment associated with it. However, for many of us, the fellowship and solidarity of our time in the service has left us with a desire to continue to serve, to support, to help out.
The Seattle Stand Down is preparing to offer support and service to our fellow Veterans on December 14th and 15th at the Georgetown campus of South Seattle College. The leadership team has been meeting regularly to plan and execute this event for the seventh time in December.
The Seattle Stand Down also has another facet, that of a nonprofit organization, and that is where we need some help. The board of directors for the Stand Down has some vacancies and we are seeking motivated and talented individuals to perform some tasks and functions which are essential to the health and strength of the organization. These vacancies are for an initial two-year period.
A package of files is available at the link provided below. The package contains the functions of the board positions, expectations of board members, and an application. The deadline to apply is September 1, 2017 with a target of empaneling the new board members by October 1, 2017.
